Oleksiy Chekal

Visiting lecturer and instructor with FCAA, designer, calligrapher, art historian.

 

Studied at the Republic Art School in Kyiv, in the Kharkiv Art School and the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. The artistic director of a graphic design studio PanicDesign. He worked as a lecturer at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts as well as at the British School of Design in Moscow.

 

Oleksiy has conducted numerous workshops on calligraphy and lettering in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Italy, France. He founded a school of calligraphy in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He held several solo calligraphic exhibitions in Europe (Florence, Paris, Palermo, Pratovecchio, Lublin).

 

His interests as an art historian focus on the early Christian art of Byzantium, Syria, Europa.
